This winter will be my first winter with AWD. I can’t wait!

blah blah blah winter tires better than awd blah blah rant.

Winter is also lots of fun with FWD, snow tires, and a decent e-brake(especially if the rear tires are bald), but I’m excited about AWD awesomeness.

I have a RWD pickup, I just drive slowly in snow

Yup, exactly that. Lol

Likewise. What do you drive? Gotta price out a set of winter tires myself.

Last winter was mine. It was most enjoyable. Looking forward to an even more fun one this year.

Also my dream winter beater is a P71. In snow camo with studded snow tires(which are stupidly illegal in my state).

1991 Galant VR-4. Probly going to get some Firestone snowtires because they are cheap.

Probably illegal because idiots will wear them year long and give the roads a nice boning.

I must say.....I envy you. That car is freaking awesome!!
![]() 09/24/2015 at 00:17 |

It probably was like 24 years ago. Now it’s a old car with 155,000 miles, and a bunch of rare-ish parts. It’s both scary and exciting, also annoying and rewarding.

I had a RWD S10, I drove as fast as I could in the snow and it was sideways, fun, and terrifying all at the same time. Oh yeah, and it was on all season Yokohomas.

indeed. I remember my bother doing burnouts in his 740 turbo with studs in, on dry pavement. the studs actually made it easier, and threw sparks which was cool. But it also left big gashes in the pavement lol. But that was in Maine they’re legal there.

I have winter tires and AWD, life is good, except that you can’t actually get sideways and have as much as fun with snow tires and AWD, there’s just too much grip.

I would pay to watch this.

how about 4wd with a limited slip rear end?

I wish I had a LSD rear.

I have shitty Kumho all seasons on my Ranger. Im hoping to upgrade to some Firestone or Grabber A/Ts, whichever is cheaper, theyre pretty much on par with each other. But I get what youre saying

wanna buy a truck with one? haha. I hope my f350 drifts well this MI winter
![]() 09/24/2015 at 00:56 |

I’ve “drifted” and F-350 before. It’s stupid and fun!.

That sounds is incredible

Sweet! its my frst winter with it

It’s a bit scary oversteering when your sitting six feet in the air.

You don't even know how jealous I am. I grew up in northern Cali and got snow every year. Then I joined the military and my first base was in Idaho. Still got a little snow. Then I moved to Alaska. Snow. Everywhere! I love snow. But, now I've been stationed in southern Spain. For two years. No snow for two years. FML.

Got any pics? That sounds awesome!

Hum? not an AWD expert in a anyway, this was actually my first attempt at driving an AWD car in the snow, but you get tons of oversteer. You just don’t get it by slamming the throttle... You get lift-off oversteer instead. It naturally wants to understeer like a motherfucker, but with bit of training, you do get a bit of fun too

NOPE!
nothing but sunshine till March!

I woundn’t mind a few years w/o snow lol. I can’t say I love it, and I realy don’t love the month orto of below zero weather we get here in Northern Wi. altho last winter was super mild, even in January there was almost no snow and it was 20-40 degrees the whole month.

One of these days. I’m already pretty unstoppable with the snow tires and my FWD car, but I can’t wait to experience the glory that is AWD and snow tires.

I absolutely love snow. I love everything about it. One of the most fun things I've ever done in snow was whip a Chevy Aveo around corners at speeds it probably shouldn't have gone on a way back road that was normally dirt anyways. Then I went home, grabbed the truck, and found new trails. I love driving in the snow.

Every time I think about winter, I really want to buy a roll bar for my Miata so that I can go ice racing.

My 128i with blizzaks is the best winter vehicle I’ve ever owned and I’ve had rwd, fwd, awd, and 4x4’s. I’m really looking forward to this winter, especially with the traction control off.
![]() 09/24/2015 at 08:21 |

Unless you consistently have lots of snow, AWD makes winter boring. Granted, sometimes that’s a good thing.

Here in northern Vermont we get more than enough snow.
![]() 09/24/2015 at 10:24 |

It is possible to have fun. It was just interesting how much harder I had to try to break traction going from all seasons one day to winters the next. I plan on putting a WRX rear limited slip in my Impreza to let the rear end step out easier.
![]() 09/24/2015 at 11:35 |

That does sounds very very fun. When I was shopping for a replacement for my Civic I was really looking for something RWD. I still have very little experience with rwd cars, in any condition so owning something RWD is the next thing on my car guy bucket list.

I approve of this decision! But I also recommend snow tires if you live in areas with snow. I didn’t use any winter weight but I might this year as my daily commute went from 2 miles to 18 miles one way.

it is a blast, plus in the middle of a storm the roads get pretty empty
